It's no secret that 1A athletes often get overlooked -- This is especially true if you've always been running in the shadows of a nationally ranked elite runner. Shawnda Martin knows this game all too well; some of Shawnda's greatest races have taken place on the state stage where Malia Ellington always captivated the crowd. This has never gotten to Shawnda, however, and she's taken a very positive perspective on the whole situation. In the time we used to get to know Shawnda, we learned that this is only a small part of what makes her such an admirable character.
