Course: Course Maps and Descriptions will be uploaded as the meet nears.
Located in the beautiful city of Brevard, North Carolina, nestled in the blue ridge mountains, this championship-level course is an idyllic spot for collegiate runners. The course itself is completely flat and is made up entirely of grass. There is little to no elevation gain during the running of the course. This makes for some fast times from the student-athletes of each team. The width of the course makes it easy for student-athletes to pass one another. The starting line is wide and spacious to accommodate large groups of runners. There are no turns within the first 600 meters of the course. The 5000m course consists of two 1.5 mile laps followed by a straight shot to the finish. The 8000m course consists of two 1.5 mile laps followed by two 1 mile loops.
Instructions for Athletes
Athletes can begin reporting to the starting line 20 minutes prior to the beginning of their designated race to be checked-in. Athletes must have their bib numbers on the front of their uniforms and must have the timing chip attached to their spikes when checking-in with the clerk. All athletes must report to their assigned starting box 5 minutes prior to the start of the race.
After crossing the timing mats at the finish line, athletes will enter the finisher chute. Athletes will then proceed to the finish corral to have their timing chips collected. Athletes will exit out the back of the corral after their chips have been collected.
Finish Corral
Finishing athletes will be the only individuals permitted in the finish corral, which is where the timing chips will be collected. Coaches, family, and spectators will not be allowed to enter the finish corral. If an athlete goes down, the medical staff will remove the athlete to the medical tent adjacent to the finish corral.
Medical
There will be several certified athletic trainers on-hand to assist athletes if there is any need.
Timing
Athletes in all races will be assigned one timing chip that will be worn on either shoe (make sure that the number on the chip matches the assigned bib number). Chips will be collected in the finish corral after each runner finishes. Failure to return chips for any reason will result in a $20 charge per chip not returned.
Official results will be verified using IdentiLynx camera.
Attaching Chips
Each timing chip should be attached to the athletes shoes using a small security tie located in the participant/team packet. Loop the tie through the laces of the shoes (see photo to the side for an example). It is the coachs and athletes responsibility to ensure that the timing chip is securely fastened to the shoe.
It is important to use the security ties as it is easier for the finish line crew to remove it when you finish. If you tie the chip into your laces you will have to untie your shoes when you finish or have your laces cut. Please note, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND TYING THE CHIPS INTO THE LACES.
