High Country Classic (Watauga High Cross Country Course)

Hosted by Watauga HS.

The course is very spectator friendly. The runners are visible to spectators for almost 1.5 miles of competition. Parking will be at Watauga High School.

WE HAVE A NO FRILLS $5 OPEN RACE FOR ANYONE. IT WILL BE ON THE SAME COURSE AS THE HIGH SCHOOL RACES. The proceeds from this race will go to the National Blood Clot Alliance. This is in honor of one of our coaches suffering from PE Blood Clots.

WE ALSO HAVE THE MIDDLE SCHOOL/KIDS RACE ON OUR TWO MILE COURSE. NO CHARGE FOR THE KIDS RACE.

Entry Fees: $10/athlete, $60/team, $100 for boys and girls teams. Varsity races are limited to 8 runners. Middle school runners are free. Make checks to Watauga Cross Country and mail to Randy McDonough, Hardin Park School, 361 Jefferson Road, Boone NC 28607. You may bring checks to meet also.

We want to be the loudest cross country invitational out there. Bring your noise makers. Cowbells, thunder sticks welcome.

Individual awards are cowbells.



Athlete Entry: Entries will be taken through the MileSplit Network. Find our meet on the NCRunners.com calendar page and click Online Entry. Entries are due by 8:00pm, September 21st, 2019.

Awards: Trophies to top 3 teams in varsity races and first place team in JV races. Cowbells awarded to top 15 individuals in all races. Sanction: Bordering States only, SC, TN, VA, GA.

Lodging: Log cabin rental rates are cheaper than hotel rates. If you are staying for the full weekend log cabins for two nights are much cheaper than hotels. Make your team's trip a true High Country experience.

Location: Boone is 90 minutes from Winston-Salem, 2 hours from Charlotte and 80 minutes from Johnson City, TN. Excellent Sunday long-run possibilities on the 26 miles of carriage trails surrounding Moses Cone Manor. Average high temperatures for Boone in late September are the low 70's. Registration help:
