Meet Information
Oak Grove will host a few polar bear meets this indoor season. There will be no fee for participating in these meets. By state rule we need a minimum of 5 teams competing to be an approved meet. Therefore, the sooner you can register your athletes and we can confirm we have 5 teams, the better.
Tuesday meets will begin at 4:30 pm.
Saturday meets will begin at 10:00 am.
These meets are about increasing the opportunity to compete. They are not a requirement. Therefore, we will be attentive to the conditions. If it is just too blustery &/or rainy to be safe and reasonable for the athletes -- as is likely to be the case at some point -- we will first attempt to move the next available day. If the next available day looks just as grim, we'll likely scrap the meet. With regard to Saturday meets, if it's a particularly frosty morning we may consider pushing the start from 10:00 am to 11:00 or 11:30.
These meets will not be FAT, so we will need help with the finish line. We will also need any coaches bringing athletes to be willing and able to step in and work one of the field events. Officially, Oak Grove has an indoor track staff of one(1) -- me, Coach Loggins. I have had a few people say they are willing to help on meet days. However, those few and me are not enough to run a whole meet. Further, no one wants to go to an outdoor winter meet that drags on. They need to be as quick and efficient as possible. This can't happen without everyone pitching in.
Registration will close at 5:00 pm the day before the meet. Athletes not entered online will not be allowed to run.
