2nd Metrolina Middle School Invitational 2017

Indian Trail, NC

Meet Information

2017 Metrolina Middle School Inviational
The Second Annual Metrolina Middle School Invitational

-- A flat, and very fast course, and a great way to begin the season (for the seasoned runner as well as the runner who is just starting out).

LAST YEAR: We had more than 25 schools and nearly 700 runners, and we are on pace to equal or exceed that this year.

***ENTRIES WILL BE DONE VIA ATHLETIC.NET at the following http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=123843#/37815

RACE SCHEDULE
(Each team can put their top 7 in the Championship, but, again, I'm not going to hold anyone to that. DO WHAT IS BEST FOR YOUR KIDS SINCE IT'S AN EARLY-SEASON MEET. NO PROBLEM AND NO WORRIES).
***This schedule should help spread everyone out in each race so that the races aren't so packed and so that the runners have plenty of room to maneuver early in the race.
7:50 AM, Middle School Boys' Championship (Top 7)
8:15 AM, Middle School Girls' Championship (Top 7)
8:40 AM, 6th Grade Boys' Race (those not in top 7)
9:05 AM, 6th Grade Girls' Race (those not in top 7)
9:30 AM, 7th Grade Boys' Race (those not in top 7)
9:55 AM, 7th Grade Girls' Race (those not in top 7)
10:20 AM, 8th Grade Boys' Race (those not in top 7)
10:45 AM, 8th Grade Girls' Race (those not in top 7)

REGISTRATION: Please go to athletic.net and register for the meet: http://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Results/Meet.aspx?Meet=123843#/37815

DEADLINE TO ENTER ROSTERS: Wednesday, Aug. 23, 11:59 p.m. (please enter earlier if possible. I will plan to send arm numbers late Thursday)
***Enter everyone you have on your roster in the various races so that no one has to be added late (it's possible to do this, but it's just more difficult on race day)

TEAM AWARDS: Top two teams in each race will receive plaques.

MEDALS: Top 15 in each race will receive a medal.

MEET ENTRY FEES: We charged a fee last year, but this year we are asking that each school have team members and parents bring canned and boxed food items. These items will go to support Food for Families and Operation Reach Out, both operate in Union County.
-- Needed: All canned and boxed food is needed, but especially needed are peanut butter, grits packets, and oatmeal packets. Again, any canned or boxed food items will be accepted (some ask what is needed most, so that's why we listed those).
-- Collection areas for food: located at the covered picnic table adjacent to the parking lot.

ADDRESS OF SCHOOL: Metrolina Christian Academy, 732 Indian Trail Fairview Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079

COURSE: Flat, fast and through the woods on dirt/grass, which should be an encouragement for a first meet. Any shoe is appropriate (racing flats, spikes, and even trainers for those runners who don't have flats or spikes)

WATER: We will have water, but please also bring your own water so that your athletes can have access to fluids in multiple places.

CONCESSIONS: We will have Gatorade, water, crackers, granola bars, etc. for a minimal cost ($1 each)

T-SHIRTS: We will have meet t-shirts for $10 (new design for 2017!)

TRAINERS: We will have a trainer from Novant Healthcare on site. If you have a trainer for your school, please feel free to bring them, as well.

TENT SET UP
-- Go to the back of the parking lot, where you can see the start/finish area roped off (on the new soccer field inside the fence).
-- You will see picnic shelters and picnic tables.
-- Just beyond that, you will see some shaded grassy areas with plenty of tall trees in the back yard of what looks like a house (it's actually an office).
-- Set up your tents in the shaded area.
***This tent set-up area will allow runners easy access to the starting areas without creating to much foot traffic in that area.

PARKING:
-- BUSES: Please park buses in the back gravel lot (just keep going all the way back until you see gravel. It's to the far right of the back parking lot)
-- SPECTATORS: Please begin parking at the back of the school and then let the lot fill up so that it's easier for people to find places as they arrive.
-- Traffic flow should be helped by the fact we have eight races going off from 7:50 a.m. until about 11 a.m.

QUESTIONS: Email meet director Brett Honeycutt at brettrhoneycutt@hotmail.com if you have questions.
