Jacksonville girls win: 
At Wilmington, Jacksonville High\'s girls took the top two individual
spots as the Cardinals won the Mideastern 3-A/4-A Conference opener at
Hugh McCrae Park in Wilmington. 
   Kaitlyn Davis crossed the stripe in 20 minutes, 10 seconds while
Ryanna Henderson finished in 20:53 as the Cards finished with 40 points
to best Hoggard (53) and third-place White Oak (59). 
   White Oak finished second in the boys meet while Jacksonville was
third. The Vikes had 62 points to trail Hoggard\'s 29; the Cardinals
posted 77 points. 
   \" The Jacksonville girls ran well and Hoggard\'s guys looked great,\"
WOHS head coach Chris Mueller said. \"We ran better than we did earlier
in the week due to the change in the weather.\" 
   White Oak\'s Andre Smith finished second in the boys meet at 17:34,
trailing winner Hoggard\'s Charles Wofford who ran 17:28. Daweet
Dagnachew of Jacksonville finished sixth with a time of 18:28 and Cal
Sligh finished with a time of 18:36 also for Jacksonville. 
   \"It was the first race of the season, things went pretty well,\" JHS
head coach Tim Hood said. \"White Oak\'s guys ran well, my hats off to
them. Hoggard\'s team also looked good.\" 
   In the girls race, Rachel Johnston of White Oak came in fourth with a
time of 22:01, Erin Putnam of Jacksonville was fifth at 22:10 and
Melissa Price was sixth with a time of 22:48. 
   Both Jacksonville and White Oak will run in meets Saturday with White
Oak heading for Hope Mills for the South View High School Jungle Run and
Jacksonville going to Buies Creek for the Campbell University
Invitational.
