Senior Spotlight: Tyler Brockington

The Dudley senior is one of the most versatile runners in the state, and she has risen steadily up the rankings in the last 3 years.

Although she has always been a strong athlete, Tyler Brockington has improved steadily over the last three years.  She has also done her best work at the state meet, especially in her signature event, the 300 hurdles: after making a splash with a 44.88 at the 2009 4A State Meet her freshman year, she has also produced PR races at the state meet in 2011 and 2012.  She first ran the 200 in her sophomore year, dropping to 24.86 that season, and has since improved to 24.09 (you guessed it, both of those races were state meet).  Her improvement in the 100 hurdles is the most dramatic: she went from 16.40 in 2010 to 14.35 last year, and likely would have smashed that had she not been held back by injuries (which have been, unfortunately, a recurring problem, especially her sophomore year).  Tyler also added a state championship in the 300 dash this winter, racing to 39.25 on UNC's flat track.  She leaves as #16 all-time in the 200, #3 all-time in the 300 dash, and #2 all-time in the 300 hurdles, a tremendous resume that she will no doubt extend at the University of South Carolina.
