Kristen Henson burst onto the running scene as a freshman in 2009, when she ran 5:13 for the mile. She followed that up with a sophomore year that started with a sub-19 in her first cross country season, and ended with a 10:52 3200 at the outdoor state meet. A multi-sport star when she started high school, Kristen has gradually shifted all of her focus to running, but had her progress derailed by a battle with anemia last school year. She shared that battle with Anna McBride, the subject of a feature article this week, and Kristen was also a key figure in supporting Anna through the loss of her coach. Through all of that, she has re-established herself as a sub-19 minute runner, and should be on track to be a major player again this spring.
