Corvian Community School was the only program in the state to leave Greensboro this week with a pair of team titles on the boys and girls side. The Cardinals boys scored 137, while the girls scored 139, combining for 276 points. Both teams beat second place by 48 or more points. It was a historic day for the two teams, who combined to win seven events on Wednesday and will be bringing home the 2A Girls MVP award as well.

Mylan Clay, Freshman
State Results: 100m Hurdles - 1st | 300m Hurdles - 1st | Triple Jump - 1st
The 2A Girls MVP enjoyed an incredible first trip to Greensboro, capturing wins in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and triple jump. Clay finishes her season undefeated in the 300mH and triple jump with personal bests of 42.96 (NC #3) and 38-1 (NC #13).
Jaselle Matthews, Junior
State Results: 100m Dash - 3rd | 200m Dash - 1st
Matthews started the day with a 3rd place finish in the 100m dash, but her biggest moment came later in the day in the 200m dash, where she, alongside her teammate Layla Adams, finished 1st and 2nd, scoring a massive 18 points for the Cardinals.
Mariana Askew, Sophomore
State Results: 100m Hurdles - 2nd | Triple Jump - 3rd
Askew added 14 points to Corvian's total on Wednesday, putting together a pair of strong performances. This is her second straight runner-up finish in the 100m hurdles at state and she finishes the season with a personal best of 14.07 (NC #7).
Jakari Galvin, Junior
State Results: 110m Hurdles - 4th | Long Jump - 1st
Galvin played an instrumental role in the boys dominating day, scoring 10 points en route to victory in the long jump. The win was his fourth of the year in the event, and he finishes the season with a season-best of 22-5.
Reginald Grier, Senior
State Results: 300m Hurdles - 4th | High Jump - 2nd | Triple Jump - 2nd
The upperclassman was a big contributor for the Cardinals in his final state track meet, finishing second in the high jump and triple jump and fourth in the 300m hurdles. Grier set a new personal best in the triple jump, going 44-7.5, and finishes the season ranked NC #31 in the high jump (6-4).
Girls Relay Teams
State Results: 4x100m - 2nd | 4x200m - 2nd | 4x400m - 1st | 4x800m - 2nd
Perhaps the secret to the Cardinals' success this weekend was their four relay teams, which combined for 34 points. Some of the girls entered into multiple relays include Dyllan Blair, Payton Pyatt, Misa Samuel, Layla Adams, Jaselle Matthews, Braelyn Waldeck, and Stella Fiawoo.
Boys Relay Teams
State Results: 4x100m - 2nd | 4x200m - 1st | 4x400m - 1st | 4x800m - 5th
Similarly to the girls, the boys strength came from their depth in the relay races, winning twice and finishing runner-up in the one-lap event. Some of the boys entered in multiple relays include Kelvin Stinson, Cameron Simpson Jr, Bronson Mcadoo Jr, Kamauriyen Bush, and Noah Smith
