It's been a strong first half of the outdoor track and field season, especially at the middle school level, where some of the Tar Heel State's brightest young stars have taken center stage. Check out some of the most recent middle school top performers in North Carolina.

Sprint Events - Top Performers
Bryson Thorbs, E.B. Frink - Thorbs delivered one of the top performances in the country this week, running 10.88 to win at the Lenoir County MS Meet #5. The mark moves him to NC MS #1 and US #10, making a big statement in the 100m.
Dylan Gatlin, Cleveland - Gatlin stayed perfect in the 100m hurdles, picking up his sixth straight win at the Johnston County Championships. He now holds NC MS #1 at 13.46 and continues to dominate the event.
Camden Mims, Cramerton - Mims remains undefeated in the 110m hurdles, winning all three races this season and holding NC MS #1 at 14.14. He's also been right there in the 100m, finishing 2nd in every outing.
Arielle Moore-Wiggins, Broadview - Moore-Wiggins continues to dominate across the board, staying undefeated in the 200m, 400m, and long jump this season. She holds NC MS #1 in the 200m and hasn't lost in any of those events since May of last year.

Field Events - Top Performers
James Durham, Four Oaks - Durham jumped 20-2 to win at the JCPS National Conference Championships, adding to an already strong season in the long jump. He also picked up a 400m win at the same meet in a 53.38 PR, showing impressive versatility.
Simeon Sylvester, Hendersonville - Sylvester has been dominant across the jumps and hurdles, staying undefeated in both the long jump and 110m hurdles this season. He also set NC MS #1 in the triple jump at 39-2.5, continuing a standout year.
Morgan McClain, Piedmont - McClain picked up her seventh win in eight attempts in the discus, throwing 102-9 to move to NC MS #1 at the UCPS Championships. She also added a runner-up finish in the shot put, showing consistency across both throws.
Madison Smith-Burns, Kernersville - Smith-Burns moved to NC MS #1 in the shot put with a 42-4.5, picking up her third straight win. She's been nearly untouchable in the event, with just one non-win across her entire middle school career.
Distance Events - Top Performers
Aaron Jacob, Weddington - Jacob ran 4:54 to win the 1600m at the UCPS Championships, picking up his third victory in the event this season. He also ran 2:13 in the 800m last week, showing he can mix it up down a distance as well.
Kinnley Hague, Without Limits - Hague finished 2nd in a loaded field at the Cary AC Elite Meet, running 5:08 for 1600m, the third-fastest time in the state this season. She's now put together back-to-back strong performances, dropping from 5:14 the week prior.
