1A/2A/3A Girls
Cardinal Gibbons wins behind an MVP performance from Sarah Rapp!
She pulled off the distance triple, winning the 1600, 1000, and 3200 on the same day.
Marvin Ridge emerged from the low-scoring, close team battle with a second-place finish, 36-34.
Other 1A/2A/3A Girls Highlights
Weddington's girls finished third with 33 in the only team battle that went down to the wire today, with the 4x4 deciding the final team order.
Sage Proffitt (North Buncombe) doubles in the 300 and pole vault.
Two freshmen storm the podium: Blake Dodge (West Carteret) 2nd in the 1000, Qizeah Jackson (Westover) 3rd in the high jump.
Only four girls score points in the long jump.
1A/2A/3A Boys
Asheville wins their third title in a row, 55-39 over Marvin Ridge! They did it with huge points in the jumps, taking first and third in the triple, first and second in the long, and scoring two in the high.
William Bass of Nash Central earns the MVP for winning the 1600 and 3200.
Marvin Rdge emerges from a tight group of teams to take the runner-up spot here too.
Other 1A/2A/3A Boys Highlights
Daisaun White, Asheville gets 1st in the triple and 2nd in the long; teammate Jason Thompson gets 1st in the long and 3rd in the triple.
Ryan Minor of South Brunswick hits 54' in the shot put.
Fast 55's: the top 3 in the 55D were all faster than the 4A winner. Top 2 in the 55H were faster than the 4A winner.
4A Girls
Wakefield dominates with 93.25 points in the first of what could be several team titles!
Wakefield claims both 4A MVP awards. Ariah Graham won the 300 and the long jump, as well as running on the victorious 4x400 relay. Aaron Covington won the 500 and 300 in one of the most impressive and surprising performances of the day.
Green Hope earns the runner-up position with a very strong 45 points, which would win many meets.
Other 4A Girls Highlights
Great high jump competition! 5 girls go 5' 6", two get over 5' 8" despite the cool temperatures and wind. Sarah Graham (Wake Forest-Rolesville) wins high jump, misses the win in 55H by 0.01!
Wakefield sweeps 1-2-3 in the 300, all three under :40.
Jennie Cunningham (Pinecrest) and Maura McDonnell (Green Hope) stage a thrilling duel down the stretch of the 1000, with Cunningham winning at the line.
4A Boys
Knightdale wins big, and then sets their sights on a spring title and the record books! Their five seniors performed well all day, and gave a good interview after the meet was over, too.
Wakefield's boys finished second, 62-44, behind an MVP performance from Covington, who had to come out of a slower heat to win the 500.

Fast 300's: 4 guys under 35!
Chris Garrett (West Johnston) wins the 1600, finishes 2nd in the 3200.
Raleigh-area dominance: Wake County athletes win 8 of 14 events, with numerous 2nd- and 3rd-place finishes as well.
