South Garner junior Maddox Krotzer keeps soaring to new heights clearing 7-2 last week at the GNRC Tri Meet on his home track to set a early season US#1 mark in the high jump as well as a NC#3 All-Time Outdoor performance.
The mark only trails Tanner Anderson (East Burke) who jumped 7-3.5 in 2010 and Jesse Williams who jumped 7-3 in 2002 to take a silver medal at the IAAF World Junior Championships. He now sits tied with Maduke Ballard of North Brunswick who cleared 7-2 in 1992.

As a sophomore Krotzer cleared 6-10.25 and would jump 6-6 at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships to place fourth overall. This indoor season he'd win the NCHSAA 7A Indoor State Championships clearing 7-0 in a tiebreak over fellow junior Tommy Pringle II (Cuthbertson) who'd also clear 7-0.
Chase Hunter (Jordan) cleared 7-2 indoors to set a new North Carolina Indoor High Jump State Record at the VA Showcase and would win the NCHSAA 8A Indoor State Championship. Panther Creek also has a potential 7 foot junior in Moktar Lemine who jumped 6-10 three times during the indoor season.
North Carolina is loaded at the top of the high jump rankings for this season as well as next with a strong junior class. Tanner Anderson's state record has held for 16 years, but will be under major threat over the next two outdoor track season.
