See below the original article for results from the meet.
The boys race has 17 athletes who have personal bests faster than 4:30. Mitch Mallory, seeded with a 4:30, is a 9:12 3200m runner, so he's capable of much faster. The field looks to be led by private schooler, Bobby Mintz of Cary Christian, who just ran 4:18 a couple weeks ago, defeating Thomas Graham of Cary Academy in the race. Jake Hurysz and Blake Williams, two Foot Locker finalists, are rumored to be headed elsewhere. Jake is coming off a US #1 time of 8:49 for 3200m and Blake has run 9:04 earlier this year. With the two of them there, the race would surely be elevated, so we'll wait and see. Nonetheless, the race should be fast and fun.
The question will be, how many of these guys can crack 4:20? Let's hope someone in the field decides to take the race out fast and sets the tone early. It would be nice to see the first 800 come through in about 2:05-2:07 to assure some very solid times.

In the girl's race, the winner could very well run low 4:50's. Samantha George of Millbrook and Wesley Frazier of Ravenscroft have already knocked out some fast times this indoor/outdoor season. Samantha ran 4:59 indoors and Wesley has run 5:00 and 5:01 by herself this season. Don't count out Carolyn Baskir, last year's 4A state champ, who has a personal best of 4:56. Lexie Schustrom of Pinecrest has been running extremely well this year and was one of the ladies who cracked the smashed the 11:00 barrier in the 3200 at the Raleigh Relays. She possesses a PR of 5:07 and should be looking at the 5:00 mark as well. Finally, another girl who cracked the 11:00 barrier in Raleigh and could come close to 5:00 is Lauren Strapp of Leesville Road. Here's a look at the complete list:
