For classifications 1A-7A, there are three regional meets each. The top 6 teams from each regional advance to the state championships.
For individuals not on a qualifying team, the top 7 individual runners (per region) advance to the state championships.
For the 8A classification specifically, there are two regional meets instead of three. The same "top 6 teams" and "top 7 individuals not on a team" rule applies.
