Homeschool stars in junior Owen Munn (Greensboro Home Educators) and freshman Annabelle Hanson (Forsyth Home Educators) won state titles at the NC Home Educators XC Championships yesterday at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex.

Munn took the boys title in 15:35 winning ahead of Forsyth Home Educators duo in Sattler Hancox who ran 16:27 and sophomore Beckett Lunde who took third in 16:42.

Munn has run 14:46 this season and has run 15:13 on this Ivey Redmon course as well as a 15:21 at McAlpine and 15:20 at Hagan Stone to prove he's amongst the top 5 across all North Carolina classifications.  

This was Munn's third straight High School title after winning in 16:29 as a freshman and 15:56 as a sophomore.  

Hanson won the girls ran in 18:44 ahead of fellow freshman Nora McCall (Chapel Hill Cheetahs) who ran 19:42 to finish as runner-up.  There was a tight battle for third as Eilana Parks (Unattached) took third in 19:52 just four seconds ahead of Karis Fraley (New Light Homeschool) and Ella McCall (Chapel Hill Cheetahs) who ran 19:56 and 19:58 respectively.

Hanson holds a seasons best of 18:18 from last weekends Great American XC Festival at WakeMed and has also run 18:20 at McAlpine.

Both Munn and Hanson's times are the fastest in Championship history that dates back to 2015.

On the team side, Greensboro Home School scored 34 points with a 17:00 1-5 team average ahead of Forsyth Home Educators who score 59 with a 17:34 team average.

On the girls side Forsyth Home Educators scored an impressive 32 points with a 20:43 1-5 team average.  Cary Fire Homeschool would take second in a sixth man tiebreak with New Life Homeschool with 90 points each!

For the Middle School Championship Jack Hodges (Cary Fire Homeschool) won the Boys 2 Mile race in 11:53 ahead of Asher Murphy (Unattached) and Noah Pettigrew (Chapel Hill Cheetahs) who ran 12:03 and 12:06 respectively.  

Iris Webb (New Life Homeschool) won on the girls side in 12:49 with Ainsley Landry (Legacy Homeschool Athletics) taking second in 13:10 ahead of Lydia Reid (Fayetteville Homeschool) who ran 13:24 for third.

Many of these programs will compete on November 1st at the HXN Championships for the Homeschool XC National Championships in Hermitage, Tennesee!
