Somto Igwilo from Walton showed up big time at the region meet with a huge time in the 100m
After giving the middle school kids some love while the high school kids completed their region meets, we're back to putting our focus on the high school kids during championship season. Athletes completed round one, the region meet, over the last two weeks and the top four in each event advanced to the sectional meet.
Vote below now for the Georgia Track & Field boys and girls performers of the week for this week. We're considering only performances from the region championships that took place over the last two weeks for this poll. Championship meets always bring out the best performances and there were a ton of great performances that aren't included in this poll since I had to narrow it down to the best of the best.
The girls vote this week is between Somto Igwilo, Oluwatosin Awoleye, Mary Nesmith, Jaden Billings, and Grace Smith
The boys vote this week is between Sidi Njie, Joseph Jacquot, Jadon Thomason, Malachi Yehudah, and Langston Hughes' 4x200m relay team.
Note - Since it's championship time, all athletes were eligible for this vote regardless of nominations and wins in other polls throughout the season. Poll closes on Friday at 7pm to let athletes get their sleep before a big day at sectionals.
