The Lady Cavaliers of Cuthbertson (Waxhaw, NC) opened up their outdoor season with a 8:48.47 effort in the 4x800m at their home opener.
Their time propels them to U.S. No. 5 all-time and is good for a new North Carolina outdoor state record. The quartet of Justine Preisano, Stella Kermes, Charlotte Bell, and Alyssa Preisano are also the indoor state record holders and are U.S. No. 7 in the event (8:57.98).

This was the perfect tune-up as they prepare for New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston next weekend.
Last year, they were the NSAF Nationals 4x800m national champions and were runner-ups to Flower Mound (TX) at New Balance Nationals Indoor in the 4xmile.
This year, the Cavaliers are competing in the 4x800m and DMR.
Cuthbertson recently collected its sixth consecutive NCHSAA Indoor State Championship. Bell won the 1,600m and Justine Preisano won the 1,000m. Kermes was runner-up in both the 1,000m and 1,600m. Alyssa Preisano was 4th in both the 1,600m and 3,200m.
