Christ School senior Rocky Hansen has been named the 2022 North Carolina Gatorade Cross Country Player of the Year.
The Wake Forest signee was on another level this season, and it was headlined by his new state record time of 14:20.90 from ASICS Invitational in Georgia. Hansen also took home the 2022 NCISAA 4A Cross Country state championship while leading his Greenie squad to the team championship. He won the Champs South Regional and went on to place 11th at Champs Nationals in San Diego, California.
Hansen took home wins at the state championship, CAA Championship, Hagan Stone XC Classic, ASICS Invitational, and adidas XC Challenge.

He went undefeated against in-state talent and picked up nine wins on the year. He finished first in every race except Champs Nationals.
Hansen is now a two-time NCISAA 4A cross country state champion. He is also the defending state champion in the 800m, 1,600m, and 3,200m. He is the state record holder in the indoor 1,000m (2:27.32) and 1-mile (4:00.76).
