VOTE: North Carolina XC Girls Junior of the Year

Stella Kermes - Cuthbertson

Kermes lived up to every bit of the hype this season. She ran NC No. 1 17:22.50 at the Union County Championships, and she went on to win the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. She also took first at Friday Night Lights and the Southern Carolina Conference Championship. She also ran 16:09.00 for the 3-mile run in California.

Chandler Welsh - R.J. Reynolds

Welsh had an incredible season. She was 3rd at both Friday Night Lights and adidas XC Challenge, as well as a win at NCRunners Elite. She won the Central Piedmont Conference and NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional Championships. Her best of 17:44.70 is NC No. 4 this season.

Mary Bonner Dalton - Myers Park

Dalton shined in her limited appearances on the season. She was runner-up at the NCRunners Elite XC Invitational, won the NCHSAA 4A West Regional, and was runner-up at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. Her personal best of 17:44.41 from the state meet is NC No. 3 overall this season.

Charlotte Bell - Cuthbertson

What a season it was for Bell. She was runner-up at Friday Night Lights, Southern Carolina Conference, and NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional Championships. Her personal best of 17:53.40 came at the SCC Championship, and is NC No. 10 overall this season. She ran 16:34.60 for the 3-mile run earlier this season in California. Bell capped off her season with a 5th place effort at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship.

Justine Preisano - Cuthbertson

Preisano finished top eight in all of her races in North Carolina this season. She was 8th at Friday Night Lights, 3rd at Union County Championship, 4th at NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional, and 6th at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. Her 17:46.90 best is NC No. 6 overall this season. She also ran 16:48.80 for the 3-mile run in California. 

Joiner Evans - Mount Tabor

Evans capped off her season with an all-state, 8th place finish at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship. She was 6th at the NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional and 3rd at the Central Piedmont Conference Championship. She also took 5th at adidas XC Challenge in a personal best, and NC No. 7, 17:52.40.

Grace Hanson - Weddington

Hanson opened her season with a 7th place finish at Friday Night Lights. She went on to place 9th at adidas XC, 3rd at Southern Carolina Conference, and 5th at NCHSAA 4A Midwest Regional Championships. She placed 11th at the NCHSAA 4A State Championship, and her season best of 17:55 is NC No. 11 overall on the season.
