Cheyla Scott Signs With University of Tennessee

Superstar high jumper Cheyla Scott (Butler, NC) has committed to continue her athletic and academic career at the University of Tennessee.

Scott is the defending North Carolina high jump state champion, and was tied for the No. 1 mark in the country last spring, having cleared 6-2 during the NCHSAA 4A West Regional.

During the 2021-22 indoor track and field season, Scott won the championship high jump competition at both New Balance Nationals Indoor and NSAF Indoor Nationals.

The main goal for Scott during the upcoming indoor track and field season just may be that overall North Carolina state record of 6-3.25, just an inch and a quarter higher than Scott's 2022 outdoor best. The North Carolina outdoor record is 6-2.25.

"What brought me to make my decision were the aspirations and goals the coaches had for me. My future coaches are very focused." Scott told MileSplit NC.
