Cuthbertson's Fahy and Morgan Commit to UNC

Cuthbertson's Killian Fahy and Reece Morgan both announced their decisions to attend the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill for the fall of 2023 to continue their academic and athletic careers!

Morgan was the first of the two to commit. Morgan was apart of the 2022 outdoor 4x100m and 4x200m state champion relay teams. He placed 5th in the 300m during the last NCHSAA Indoor State Championship.

"After my visit [to UNC], I sat down with my family and prayed over it for days and realized that UNC was the place for me to grow academically as well as athletically," Morgan said on his commitment. "Finding a school that wanted me for me."

Morgan holds bests from his junior campaign of 10.72 (100m), 21.69w (200m), and 35.51 (300m), and 48.13 (400m).

Morgan doesn't have to go far to find his future teammates. Longtime teammate Killian Fahy is heading to Chapel Hill alongside him.

Fahy was the 2022 NCHSAA 4A 400m state champion where he ran a personal best of 47.23 (NC No. 2 on the season). During indoor season he was also runner-up in the 300m, as well. He also was with Morgan on the victorious 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams.

"I decided to make UNC my home for the next four years because it is one of the top academic schools in the nation," Fahy said on his commitment, "I had three main focuses: a great academic program, a great track and field team, and a place I felt at home."

Morgan and Fahy are two of the first commitments for track-focused boys in the 2023 class. They are the second and third in-state athletes to commit to UNC this year, joining Porter Ridge's Jacob Laney.

Morgan will be majoring in exercise and sports science and Fahy's anticipated major will be business.
