Ryann Aycock (Cary Christian) returned to cross country action in 2022 after missing the 2021 season. During the 2020 season as a sophomore, she was crowned NCISAA 3A state champion. Now a senior, she made her return to the course after a standout track season.
Aycock won the NCISAA Division II 1,600m and 3,200m state titles in 2021 as a sophomore, as well.
In a strong invitational field, Aycock ran a dominant race, she finished strong, and it paid off with a victory, and a season best time of 19:09.
She led Cary Christian to a victory as a team. They scored 83 points to beat R.J. Reynolds and Mooresville.
Aycock is returning to a strong team, as they were runner-up at the NCISAA DII State Championship in 2021. They return six of their top seven, including 2021 state champ Tori Stonebraker. When you add in Aycock and Kaitlyn Estep, this Cary Christian team is dangerous.
