Mountain Island Charter School senior Trevin Moyer has committed to Arizona State University!
Moyer is fresh off victories in the 55m dash and 500m dash at the NCHSAA 1A/2A Indoor State Track and Field Championship. He was later named the NCHSAA 1A/2A State Meet MVP. He currently sits NC No. 1 this season in the 200m, 300m, 400, and 500m, with his 300m time placing him US No. 5 and NC No. 2 all-time. He is also NC No. 2 and US No. 3 in the 55m dash as well.
Arizona State is currently ranked No. 24 in the USTFCCCA Indoor Track and Field Rankings.
"Ultimately it was the family type bond that they had and the hospitality. Also I wanted to go to a school where I knew they would come to me with open arms and keep it that way not throw me to the back when adversity happens such as an injury I just felt they would stand on their word."
Even with all the COVID restrictions, Moyer was able to take a visit to campus and absolutely fell in love.
"Yes I was able to take a college visit and it was great. Their campus is beautiful, what I loved most was the weather though! Man, the weather is great, sunny all year around and clear skies!"
Moyer said he kept in constant contact with the coaches and teams, something that ended up being very important to him.
"I've been in contact with both athletes and coaches a lot which also helped my decision so much. They didn't forget about me after the visit, constant calls and text and also cheering me on at my meets while I'm halfway across the country. My impressions of them are great. I feel their intentions are 100 percent pure and they want what's best for me!"
Moyer is more than just a fast runner, he is an elite cook as well!
"A fun fact about me is that I love to cook. I cook for myself and for my family all the time. It brings me peace and also it helps me to keep a good diet so I can feel better while I'm doing what I do best on the track."
