Mount Tabor senior and UNC signee Will Soule has been named the 2021-22 Gatorade North Carolina XC Boys "Player of the Year".

Soule had a spectacular senior cross country campaign, capping it off with the NCHSAA 4A individual and team championship in November. Soule helped his Spartan squad become one of the best teams in state history.

At the Great American XC Festival, Soule took home 4th overall in a loaded field, and he led Mount Tabor to North Carolina's first team champion in the historic Race of Champions. He clocked his personal best of 15:14 at Great American as well.

He continued his dominant run into the postseason, as he captured the NCHSAA 4A Midwest title in 15:37. He led Mount Tabor into the state championship looking to claim another team championship, and he did not let them down. Soule did his job and took home the individual championship in 15:31.

Soule was 4th in the 2020 NCHSAA XC 3A State Championship, and runner-up in the 2021 NCHSAA 3A Outdoor Track 1,600m.

Following the state championship, Soule took to the track for Dash For Doobie and continued his impressive streak. He took home the victory clocking 9:07.53.

Soule will head east of Winston-Salem in the fall to attend and compete for UNC Chapel Hill.
