Boys 800m

Two boys broke 2:00 in the 800m at their regional and did not qualify for the state meet. Andrew Mallo (Wake Forest) took 4A East in 1:56. Korey Pratt (Hillside) ran 1:54 to take 4A Mideast. Jack Britt's Brian Marquis Jr and James Stover, along with Garner's Riley Wilcox qualify with Pratt. Myers Park's Maddon Muhammad edged Reagan's Spencer Baldwin to take 4A Midwest in 1:57.37. Ardrey Kell's Steven Smith won 4A West in 2:01.03.

Boys 1600m

Maddon Muhammed is going for the 800m/1600m double and is the top seed in the 1600m after his 4:25 victory at 4A Midwest. Bryce Anderson (Hickory Ridge) was right on his tail finishing 2nd in 4:26.69. Sophomore Jacob Laney from Porter Ridge was 3rd in 4:27. Ardrey Kell's Murphy Smith won 4A West in 4:33 over Lake Norman's Gavin Sweeney and Griffin Horner. Justin Hayes (Panther Creek) battled Green Level's Alex Fernandez and Pinecrest's Adrian Archer to the line at 4A Mideast, and ended up victorious in 4:26. Wesley Haws (Cardinal Gibbons) used a 2:04 back half of his 1600m to pull away from Leesville Road's James Blizzard to win 4A East in 4:26.

This is truly anyone's race. Evan Pena (Hoggard) won the 4A East title in 9:33 over Cardinal Gibbons Wesley Haws, Millbrooks' Joshua Navarro and South Central's Elliot Kleckner. Panther Creek's Justin Hayes won the 4A Mideast title in 9:36 over Athens Drive freshman Noah Valyo, Green Hope's Gavin Hansen, and Pinecrest's Adrian Archer. Jean-Lou Pare (Page) won the 4A Midwest title over Jacob Laney, Grimsley's Jacob Barrow, and Porter Ridge's Dominic Conroy. Murphy Smith ran away with the 4A West title over Gavin Sweeney, Griffin Horner, and Ardrey Kell freshman Raghav Gopalakrishnan.
