NCISAA Pre-Season XC Team Countdown: Boys #1 Providence Day

Finally! We're down to our #1 Team! Coming in at #1 on the boys' side on our NCISAA Countdown are the Chargers of Providence Day School!

The defending NCISAA State Champions are ready to defend their title in 2020, but it won't be easy. Last season's individual runner-up Christian Landis is prepping for his senior season as he has a chance to be one of the best runners in the state, and even the southeast. Landis holds a personal best 5000m time of 15:22, the best in NCISAA and #4 in the state overall. It is not all on Landis for this team to repeat, however. Colter Nichols and John Alfred Smith come into the season as top ten returners in NCISAA and will be looking to both post another top ten performance in the State Meet. Nichols was 7th and Smith was 10th last season. The only other returner from the state championship team is Landon Roemer who gained a lot of experience as a freshman last season. Do not be surprised if we see a breakout season from Roemer. The battle for #5 on this squad will likely be between senior Luke Manna and sophomore Will Thompson. Manna currently has a 5000m personal best of 18:29, twenty seconds ahead of the younger Thompson. This Providence Day School squad has all the tools to repeat as State Champions. There are some hungry teams chomping at their feet, but that should only serve as more motivation for these Chargers.
