Coming in at #21 on the Boys' side on our Pre-Season XC Countdown is D.H. Conley. DH Conley is coming off a NCHSAA 3A East Regional victory and a 6th place finish at the State Meet. Headlining this team is returning East Regional Champion Nathan Geyer. Now going into his junior season, Geyer looks to take the next steps forward in his progression and contend for a 3A State Title.
Behind Geyer are a duo of rising seniors, Seth McKinney and Owen Thorndike. Thorndike holds a personal best of 16:28, three seconds behind McKinney. However, McKinney finished higher at the State Meet last season. The battle to be the #2 runner will undoubtedly boost both of their performances. McKinney's 3200m personal best of 10:14 and Thorndike's 10:15 3200m personal best gives great indication they can fight for a Sub 16:00 time this season.
The 4th and 5th runners really have to step up for this Viking squad to succeed. They have the 10th best trio in the entire state, but fall to #22 when we look at full team scoring. Landen Williams and Garrett Miller both hold personal bests 17:48. In a short Outdoor Track season Miller ran the 1600m in 4:58 and as a freshman Williams ran 5:00.
The Vikings come into this season as the #6 returning team in NCHSAA 3A and the top returning team in their regional. If Williams and Miller and really improve than this DH Conley team can fly up these rankings come season end.
