NCHSAA 3A Girls State Championship Preview

Relays

The sprint relays are always hard to predict with times coming from Polar Bears and teams not running their top squad indoors throughout the season.  Parkland as always will be tough to beat in the 4x200m with a 1:42.5 indoor mark.  Cuthbertson have run 1:44.41 and will be looking to challenge Parkland in one of their stronger events.

The two squads also hold the top times in the 4x400m with Cuthbertson at 4:05 and Parkland 4:10.  Cuthbertson has a deep sprint team and will be favorites heading into the final event of the day with their fourth straight team title in site.  But Northern Guilford, Weddington and Cleveland each have strong mid distance groups and will be vying for the upset if they can stay in position early in the race.

Chapel Hill are going to be tough to beat in the 4x800m as they come in under the 3A State Meet record by 6 seconds at 9:28.  They have Megan Marvin on the anchor leg who has run 2:08 in the open 800m outdoors.  It's likely she gets the baton up front and won't be caught if that's the case.  Weddington and Marvin Ridge have each run 9:41 this season and Northern Guilford 9:51.  We typically see the best indoor 4x800m of the season at the state meet, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a team have a massive PR tomorrow afternoon.
