North Iredell's Jonna Strange has announced her commitment to Furman University!
Strange has emerged as a distance star over her high school career earning PRs on the track of 5:03 and 10:45 as well as indoor and outdoor NCHSAA 3A 3200m State Titles in 2019.
Strange recently was the second North Carolina finisher at Great American where she ran 17:54 for 10th place in a loaded field.
Furman has developed a strong women's distance program that seems to get better every year. They are currently ranked 14th in FloTrack's DI NCAA Women's Team Rankings.
She'll join former North Carolina high school distance stars in Emily Lane n(Cary Academy) and Jennifer Stephenson (Village Christian) on the Furman roster.
"I chose Furman because the coaches there are some of the best in the country. I also liked the team aspect and how close everyone was. I was also impressed with the opportunities I would have to do research and study."
Strange also took visits to NC State and Wake Forest.
Strange enters the post season as one of the many favorites for the NCHSAA 3A individual title.
