New Balance Nationals Results

--

7th grader Lynlee Johnson out of East Yancey Middle School had a huge weekend at New Balance Outdoor Nationals.  She competed in the 800m on Thursday and the Mile on Friday in the Junior High portion of the meet.

She had run 2:20.12 two weeks back at the Powerade State Games and would be in the fast section.

The pace went out hot with Cha'iel Johnson (FL) and Kenyah Conner (GA) crossing the 400m mark in 61 seconds.  Johnson would cross in 1:04.17 in 3rd.  She'd run 1:13.44 for her second lap holding on for 4th place setting a 3 second PR!

She came back today in the Mile where she'd be in the second of three sections with a PR of 5:27.40 and a recent 1500m of 5:07.77 two weeks ago.

She was dominant in her section going out in 1:11.70 and went through the 800m in 2:29.78, which was her PR in the open 800m a month ago.  She'd cross the 1500m mark in 4:48.41 then clock 5:07.81 in the full Mile.

Her time would hold on for 2nd place in the junior high race after the third section.

The mark is good for a NC No. 1 for Middle School girls and is the fastest we've ever seen for a middle school girl in NC.  She joins Charlotte Bell (Cuthbertson MS), Ryann Aycock (Cary Christian) and Vanessa Alder(West Pine MS) who ran 5:11 tonight.
