Watch Lee-Davis Invitational Live
One week removed from his NC#1 9:09.15 3200m win at the Bojangles Classic Nick Scudder of Millbrook will chase a 1600m PR at the Lee-Davis Invitational in Mechanicsville, VA.
A week ago Scudder battled with Lowell Hensgen (Cardinal Gibbons) and Jack Filan (Cambridge, GA) in the fast section of the 3200m. Scudder led the majority of the race and slowly pulled away from the field over the final 400m to earn a 4 second win ahead of Hensgen.
Scudder ran a converted 4:17.93, good for an NC#3 mark, but will look to beat that against a strong field at Lee-Davis. His biggest competition will be L.C. Bird (VA) sophomore Jacob Plummer who ran 4:18.55 during the indoor season. He'll also have plenty of athletes hungry to dip under 4:20 for the first time.
Saturday, April 20th is also Scudder's 18th birthday so a new PR would be a great present for himself.
Scudder's teammates Nianza Nsiambote, Ethan Wood and Elliot Fernandez will each compete in the 800m later in the day as well.
Durham School of the Arts will also send a squad to Lee-Davis headlined by star thrower and NCHSAA 1A/2A State Champion Teteateh Snoh who will face off against a few fellow 40 foot throwers.
