Of the NCHSAA 1A/2A State Meet Records the only one that is a lock to hold up is North Brunswick's 1:30.35 4x200m from 2017. The fastest team this indoor season is Southwest Edgecombe at 1:32.91.
Cummings girls are already under their 4x200m meet record, however are not entered in the 4x200m. They can score more points focusing athletes in individual events rather than winning the 4x200m. However, they do stand a good chance at breaking the 4x400m meet record of 4:12.93. Cummings has run 4:13.21 this year. With most of their athletes doing three events prior we'll see if they'l have enough left in the tank at the end of the meet.
Croatan has run 3:30.80 indoors this season and are big favorites in the boys 4x400m. Northeastern ran 3:29.67 back in 2014 for the 1A/2A meet record. Croatan is favorites by 7 seconds over North Lincoln and Ashe County and will be looking to lock up a podium finish heading into the 4x400m. Despite being a 1A/2A program I think Croatan could have the second best 4x400m in NC this season after this weekend.
North Lincoln returns their 4x800m relay that ran 8:12.93 last year. They're certainly capable of running faster than that this year, but the indoor team title relies on their distance runners doubling and tripling well. First Flight has run 8:25.17 this season and other teams always come together at the state championship, but it's certain the meet record won't be on their mind rather than just securing 10 points as easily as they can.
Croatan girls have run 10:06.69 this season which will be three seconds off of First Flight's 1A/2A Meet Record of 10:03.65 from two years ago. North Lincoln girls have run 10:26.64 and I think they're capable of running faster and challenging Croatan here. This should be a tight battle with two schools likely being under the meet record.
