Sprint Star Isai'as Robinson Commits To NC A&T!

Overhills star sprinter Isai'as Robinson drops his commitment to North Carolina A&T State University!  Robinson has had a breakout senior outdoor track season where he dropped his PR down from 10.94 to 10.53.  Robinson's only run track for two years now, and he certainly showed his potential this year.

Robinson swept the 100m & 200m at the 4A Mideast Regional this year and placed 3rd in both the NCHSAA 4A Indoor 55m Dash and Outdoor 100m Dash Finals.

Just last week we saw likely the best performance yet out of Robinson at the Powerade State Games on his future home track.  Robinson took the win over rival Cameron Council, who clocked an NC#1 time of 10.49 in the prelims.  Robinson clocked a 10.58, but it was into a -2.5 headwind. I think it's safe to say that Robinson's going to throw down a major PR at some point this summer.

Robinson had this to say about his recent commitment.

The number one reason I chose A&T is because of the coaching.  They have some great coaches that want to see me be a better person and as an athlete . The second reason is because of education.  I feel like it would be the best beat for me and my family. Third is the team culture.  I want to be around winners and want to compete with the best and I know if I go there I have the tools to reach my full peak with the great coaching staff and teammates.

Other than North Carolina A&T, Robinson considered Norfolk State, North Carolina Central and St. Augustine's.  North Carolina A&T has had a ton of recent track success on the national stage in the sprints.

A&T's current team has former North Carolina athletes like Rodney Rowe (Clayton '15) and Jaylan Mitchell (Hillside '16) that didn't run for more than a year or two in high school.  They've developed them into some of the top sprinters in the NCAA.  With a similar background, we could see Robinson post this type of improvement over the next few years.
