NCISAA 3A State Championship Race Videos
Christ School made history on Saturday winning their third ever NCISAA Track & Field State Championship. In 1977 and 1990 Christ School also won track and field team titles before the NCISAA 3A and NCISAA 1A/2A formed split meets.
Christ School scored 134 total points winning the team title in dominating fashion over Providence Day, who had won the last 5 NCISAA 3A Team Championships. Christ School had too much firepower in the sprints and jumps events for the rest of the NCISAA to handle last weekend lead by Kevin Snyder who won the Triple and Long Jump and took 4th in both the 100 and 200 meter dash finals.
Jalen Lecque and Aydan White also brought home individual titles for Christ School winning the High Jump and 110m Hurdles respectively. They also won both the 4x200 and 4x400 clocking 1:27.83 and 3:22.36.
Christ School had proven to be strong all year, the small program held the top 4x400m Relay mark prior to the NCISAA State Championships from Penn Relays earlier this year. But it still seemed that it would have to be a battle for them to dethrone Providence Day and their stellar distance squad. They hadn't had their star distance running Andrew Hammel at full strength throughout the year, due to what seems to be an injury.
Christ School really could not have asked for better performances from their athletes this weekend. Things seemed to flow perfectly for them over the course of two days as they went 1-2-3 in the High Jump, 1-3-4 in the Triple Jump and 2-4-6 in the 400 securing major team points in those three events.
The scary thing is, these guys return pretty much everyone from this squad back next year. No one who scored points for them individually this year graduates, which means they'll be scary good next year, and might be able to contend as the top overall track team in the state.
You could tell all year that there was something special going on with this Christ School program, and they certainly proved themselves Saturday at the NCISAA State Championships.
