We pulled data from the last four years of Long Jumpers to compare how Long Jumpers to their 100m Dash PR. We sorted athletes by their Long Jump PR and also added in their 100m Dash PR as well as their rank amongst the last four years Long Jumpers in the 100m Dash.
Of the top long jumpers on this list, we've seen 23 boys clear 23 feet over the last four years. 11 of which have run under 11 seconds in the 100m Dash. There are certainly some outliers on the opposite end of the spectrum with three boys not running under 12 seconds for the 100m Dash, but having cleared 23 feet in the long jump. You could also consider J Johnson an outlier on the top of the rankings with an FAT 10.34, but I'd say it's clear that his speed down the runway helped him jump to 24-3.75 rather than hurt him.
One thing that could skew this data is athletes not running the 100m Dash more than once or twice and not focusing in training in that event like they do in the jumps.
