Raleigh Relays: New Bern USR 3:19.58 SMR!

Running against collegiate competition at the NC State hosted Raleigh Relays on Friday evening, the New Bern boys of North Carolina (competing as club Track Eastern) broke the US high school national record in the sprint medley relay with a second place finish in the fast section in a time of 3:19.58. New Bern was pulled along to the national record by event winners St. Augustine (3:19.48). It was an incredible 7 second improvement from their US leading indoor best of 3:26.28 from the Simplot Games.

The relay order and unofficial splits: Fuquwan Greene (200-20.9), Miles Sparks (200-21.9), Anthony Hendrix (400-46.5), & Andrew Hendrix (800-1:49).

The Raleigh Relays also has high school 3200 meter races on Friday as Samantha George of Millbrook (NC) won the girls 3200 leading 6 under 11:10 with her 10:56.76. George is only a ninth grader and won the freshmen mile at Nike Indoor Nationals two weeks ago in Boston. The boys 3200 race should be completed soon.

Winner of the boys race was Chapel Hill's Taylor Gilland as he defeated Foot Locker 3rd place finisher Thomas Porter of Mountain View VA (9:14) in a final time of 9:11.
