Boys 15-16 800m Run

Two of the nation's top freshmen -- Mark Alkins (Durham Academy) and Wayne Faison (Cary Academy, Track Xplosion) -- will square off Sunday in the girls 15-16 division 800m. Alkins and Faison are NCISAA 3A rivals and this year kicked off plenty of battles to come over the next three years. Alkins rans US No. 10 for freshmen with his 1:57.09 and Faison posted a US No. 19 of 1:57.67. Another name to watch is Brian Williams (Southeast Raleigh, Carolina Allstars), who is the top 400m freshmen in North Carolina with a time of 50.12 seconds this outdoor season. Williams hasn't run an 800m this year and has a PR of 2:15 overall, but is certainly capable of much more if he puts his mind to it.
