J Johnson (Panther Creek) was the class of the short sprints for this high school season.  He didn't have one loss to a North Carolina athlete throughout the season.  Johnson had an unfortunate end to high school career with a hamstring injury at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships.  Johnson certainly let it be known that he was the man to beat in the 100 this season.  

Chantz Sawyers (Platinum Sports) comes in just behind Johnson this outdoor season in the combined 100/200 rankings.  Sawyers is a 400 meter specialist, but his 100 has made massive strides this outdoor season he's down to NC#3 10.55 after taking 3rd at the Jamaican Junior Trials last weekend.  Deshawn Ballard (Laney) isn't someone who was at the top of the state leaderboards until last weekend where he had a massive breakthrough at the USATF NC JO Championships clocking a NC#1 200 of 21.28.
