Throwback Thursday: A Look At 4 Of North Carolina's Best Seniors From Their Freshman Year!

Todd Holbrook (R.J. Reynolds) has shown one of the most impressive improvements over his four years at R.J. Reynolds.  His freshman and sophomore year he made the top 7 at Reynolds who had one of the best top 5's in North Carolina.  Below is Holbrook's Cross Country progression over the last four years.

His junior year after graduating a lot of strong teammates, Holbrook stepped up as he and current Junior John Tatter stepped up to be RJR's next great runners.  Aside from Holbrook's All-State Finish in XC  this season he added three podium performances on the track.  His best from his junior season indoors where he took 2nd in the 4A 3200.  His junior year outdoors Holbrook was 3rd in the 3200, and this year he took 3rd in the 800 clocking 1:56.33.  Likely his most impressive state meet performance of his career as I'm sure he does not see himself as an 800 guy when he reflects on his high school career.

Watch Todd Holbrook take 3rd at the NCHSAA 4A 800 last weekend.

Holbrook is a great example for all the young athletes out there working hard with dreams of being one of the best distance runners in the state at some point in there career.  Holbrook's track progression is below.

Holbrook will certainly be the first to tell you that his top running accomplishment is being crowned the 2016 Donut Run Champion.  5K plus 6 donuts halfway in 20:07, an event he's been training for for many years.  Holbrook will head to NC State this fall.  Holbrook also was one of the first to refer to me as "Mr. Creasy" at some point during this indoor season, and for that I'll never forget him.
