Indoor Rankings vs. Winter Rankings

Here in North Carolina, "polar bear" meets or outdoor meets held during the winter, are very important. The NCHSAA allows qualifying times to come from these meets since NC's indoor track facilities are slim (almost none).

If you are looking for actual indoor meets, you should be ready to travel this season. With one actual indoor meet, hosted by the Durham Striders at the UNC Chapel Hill campus, in the state this season . . . you must head to Tennessee or Virginia. The Striders have bettered just about all of their qualifying standards in order to decrease numbers but increase competition, so don't plan on sending your entire team to Chapel Hill in January.

So, obviously NC's outdoor meets are very important. The times, if sent to Coach McMahon or I, will be entered into the system (HYTEK or RaceTab only) and loaded onto your profile page.

You will find two different places to find rankings this indoor season. If you go to rankings and scroll down to indoor, you will find the WINTER rankings, which includes indoor and "polar bear" results.
