Five Stories From The Guilford County Championships!

High Point Central relied on one of it's star seniors to help bring home the Guilford County Championship trophy. Tamara Clark competed in two individual races and ran a leg on the Bison's winning 4 x 100 relay.

Clark, a senior and four time 100 winner at the Guilford County Championships, started her day with big breakfast of oatmeal, two boiled eggs, and grits. She said, "I usually eat the same things on race day. I usually only listen to music before a race if I'm really nervous. I like to listen to calm pop music those times."

Clark owns NC #1s in the short sprints. She captured the 100 and the 200. She said, "I'm used to doing four events and I try to rest as well as I can in between. I don't really get too active until just before the next race."

In high school, she takes advantage of the HPC weight room-she's enrolled in phys ed and weight training during the school day. She reports, "they're my favorite classes and help me train for my events. I think my squats routine has helped me the most. I can squat 225 lbs."

Clark disclosed her goals for the rest of the season, "I want to get 11.4 in the 100 and a low 23 or high 22 for the 200."
