Delgado, Fraley, Mitchell Selected To Represent Team NSAF in Cuba!

Ian Delgado (Green Hope), Veronica Fraley (Wakefield) and Roman Mitchell (Southeast Raleigh/Project Javelin Gold) were selected to Team NSAF that will compete at the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational in Cuba May 26th-May 28th.  All three athletes are currently in their junior season and are three of 28 athletes selected to compete.  You can find the full list of competitors on the NSAF Website

Fraley is at Wakefield and is having a strong start to her junior season.  She recently won the Bojangles Classic Discus in 151-0 and took second in the shot put just off her PR with a throw of 43-0.  Fraley is currently NC#1 in the Discus at 154-10 and NC#3 in the Shot Put at 43-3. She is scheduled to compete in both the Shot Put and Discus at CSI Cuba.

Delgado is the top North Carolina returner after running 1:52.20 his sophomore season at the NCRunners Elite Tune-Up & Border Clash taking second to teammate Jayquan Williams.  Delgado was an All-American this indoor season with his teammates in the DMR that took 4th in the nation at NBIN.  Delgado ran the 1200 leg handing off in 4th place.  He recently won the Wake County Championships 800 in NC#2 fashion of 1:55.36.

Roman Mitchell is one of North Carolina's lesser known stars. He narrowly was an All-American last outdoor season in the Javelin.  Since North Carolina does not normally contest the Javelin he has to compete in mainly college meets.  He holds a PR in the event of 206-4 where he won the USATF National Junior Olympic Championships last summer.

Last season Anna Cockrell (Providence Day, USC) and Marcus Krah (Hillside, UNC) both competed in this event out of North Carolina.
