High Point Central Girls Put on a Clinic at NCHSAA 4A State Championships

Tamara Clark stands out as the star of High Point Central's girls team, but the entire team had a massive day at the NCHSAA 4A State Championships where they scored 80 points to beat defending Champions Southeast Raleigh who scored 61 points.  Below are the results of High Point Central's Girls Team.

Tamara Clark was an obvious stand out of the entire state championship weekend as she won the 55m Dash in US#1 and NC#2 All-Time mark of 6.89, won the 300 in a new North Carolina Indoor State Record and US#6 All Time Individual Performance of 37.81.   She also provided monster anchor legs to High Point Centrals winning 4x200 and 4x400.

Aside from Clark's success, the rest of High Point Central's athletes posted their best performances of the year.  Monzerad Creary and TiCoiya Gidderon took 3rd and 4th in the 500 going NC#3 and NC#5 this season running 1:15.23 and 1:16.79 respectively.

Junior Leah Bolden and Freshman Zhamoura McPhail went 6/7 in the 55m Dash Finals. Bolden posted an NC#9 mark in the prelims running 7.17.  McPhail came back to place 6th in the 300

Kayla Nesbitt-McEwen had a massive day in the Long Jump and High Jump as she took 2nd in both events.  In High Jump Nesbitt-McEwen jumped 5-4 winning a three way tie-breaker with only having one miss in the competition.  She also set a new Indoor PR of 36-7 in the Long Jump scoring a huge 16 points for her team.

High Point Central was just off their NC#5 All-Time Performance in the 4x200 of 1:40.22.  Clark ran the anchor leg and mad up a lot of ground in one lap to take the win over Southeast Raleigh.

The 4x400 was close after the first few legs, but High Point Central opened up a huge lead going into anchor leg, and Clark was solely racing the clock.  I split Clark at 54 low as High Point Central moved to NC#2 All-Time Indoors in the event running 3:48.73.

High Point Central had a near flawless day at the NCHSAA 4A Indoor State Championships beating the pre-meet favorites (according to our virtual meet) and defending champions Southeast Raleigh.  But if you know the Southeast Raleigh girls, you know they're going to be ready for the rematch this outdoor season and that they will not take this loss lightly.
