4A Preview: Time for the Ladies

4A Women’s Preview

4A West @ McAlpine

Like the Men’s region look for the Southwestern conference to dominate as well with three teams from the conference going to state and for six teams to be in the top ten. The team that NCRunners sees as dominating the region: MyersPark. We believe that there will be a carry over from the track regional, where MyersPark won all four distance events. Look for MyersParkto have maybe three out of the top five in the regional.

Coming in second will be Providence, they always seem to get someone to run well and rise out of the woodwork. Look for this team to have some extra motivation this year.

The third place team to be Watauga Weddington. They had a young team last year and my gut is telling me that they will be the third place team from the region, with Watauga followed behind them.

4A Midwest @ Tanglewood

Northwest Guilford looks to be the team to get the regional win like they did last year. Will it be as margin as wide as it was last year? Uh…I don’t know I’m just predicting who will go to States, I’m not predicting that sort of thing. For second place were going to flip last year’s second and third place teams, Page and North Mecklenburg and say that North Meck gets second and Page gets third. That seems about right. The last spot will go to MountTabor, who were picking to make things interesting. They have a young frontrunner in Margaret Leak depending on how well she does will determine how Tabor does in this meet and the state meet.

4A Mideast @ WakeMed Soccer Park

Were going backwards for this region, just like Memento and that Seinfeld episode. There’s a lot of teams that are fighting for the last spot we see. Were going to throw out some teams and see what sticks. Cary (love the nickname-IMPS), Green Hope, Athens Drive, and Broughton. That’s four teams for two spots, and when in doubt go with the gut and not brains. Broughton for third place and Athens Drive for fourth place.

A very close and competitive regional, probably the second best region behind the East. Some teams that could finish in the top ten will be left in the cold (or since we live in North Carolina, the-it-might-be-cold-but-probably-a-mild-late-fall).

Now for the top two teams we see that it will be Chapel Hill in first and East Chapel Hillin second. Now there’s a lot to like about the city of Chapel Hill: Franklin Street, Halloween, and Carrboro.

4A East @ UNCW course

In a close contest NCRunners is going to say that Pinecrest gets the regional win over Terry Sanford. Now were going to ask this because we don’t think Ben ever asked this and we’ve done some research, but can’t find answer. Who exactly is Terry Sanford? We’ve googled him and wikipediad (is this even a word?), but we can’t find out who this person was. He’s not a former governor or senator we know that much, but was he a mayor or an important individual in Wilmington? We don’t know that’s why were asking someone for helping us out.

And looking over the third team in the region were picking West Johnston, who may even win the region. Were saying that it will be close, very close if you’re wondering. The difference between first and third being somewhere between 15-20 points. Getting the last spot for states will be…Clayton. Were going to say that if all four teams put in the work over the summer and stay healthy and consistent throughout the season, this region could be the most competitive one in the entire state, men’s or women’s. Yeah looks like it will be an East Coast battle supremacy.
