Cameron Ponder (Mt. Tabor) comes in with the second fastest PR in the field and his previous track season shows he should be well ahead of his 15:43 PR. He ran 9:09 at the NCHSAA Outdoor State meet which is the fastest PR amongst this field. Ponder came in at #2 on our Preseason Saucony Flo50 Rankings. He will be challenged by Ben Gilman (Hilton Head, SC) who has a PR of 15:10 from his sophomore year and ran 15:56 to take 14th at this meet last season. Gilman was the SCHSL AAA state champion last season in XC. Peyton Barish(Green Hope) is someone who could also have a break out performance and proved he was ready for a big season with a 2nd place finish at the BaySix Kickoff Classic.
