North Carolina Shines at V-Tech Invitational

Day 1-Quick notes

Davis continues to lower his time, .04 faster than last weekend and in the prelims . . . only .05 off the national record. Owned by former NC athlete, Johnny Dutch.

 

Keare Smith also qualified for finals, 2nd in 7.40.

 

East Forsyth ran 8:06 for 3rd place in the boy's 4x800.

 

Sun Valley boys run 11:14 for 4th place in the DMR.

 

Nyosha Bryant qualifies 1st, Malai Walker 2nd, & Sheguyra Guy 4th in the 55m dash prelims - 7.10 for Bryant, 7.18 for Walker, & 7.23 for Guy.

 

Danielle Davis and LeQuisha Hemphill both qualify for finals in the 55mh - 8.75 and 8.82 respectively.

 

Nadia Morgan of Parkland finished 7th in the TJ with a mark of 36-05.75

 

Deirdra Morrison of Wilkes Central was 4th in shot put - 37-09.00

 

Fuquawn Green qualified in 6th and Grant Nowell of West Charlotte 8th-times of 6.58 & 6.59 in the 55m dash.

 

Day 2 is HUGE!

  • Wayne Davis is simply on fire right now, just missing the National Record in the 55m hurdles. Johnny Dutch, formerly of Clayton HS (NC) currently holds the record at 7.07. Davis ran 7.08 in the finals!

  • Dylan Ferris has a remarkable day. Dylan won the Invitational mile in 4:16.07 and then came back to win the Invitational 800 in 1:54.41. Both marks rank him near the top in country - the 800 he is now 3rd and the mile, 4th
  • Patrick Campbell also continues to astonish everyone with his vast improvement. Campbell who has already run 9:14, solo, was right behind Dylan in the mile with a time of 4:16.73 - about a 10 second PR over the distance *Both Campbell and Ferris broke the old meet record
  • Nyosha Bryant ran very well, winning both the 55m dash and the 300m dash. Her time in the 55m was 7.10 and the 300m she ran 40.19. The 300m time ranks her 9th in the country.
  • West Charlotte's girls, with Bryant racing, ran the 5th fastest time in the country in the 4x200, clocking a 1:42..74
  • Fuquawn Green ran 6.51 to place 4th in the 55m dash
  • Todarian Forenburger and Jarrel Elliott ran the 4th and 5th fastest times in the boy's 500 for NC, 1:06.88 & 1:06.96
  • Will Taylor ran a solid 4:31, good enough for 7th in the 1600
  • West Charlotte's boys won the 4x200, hitting 1:29.65 - they are ranked 3rd in the US now
  • Scott Houston continued soaring in the pole vault, winning with a clearance of 16-01, setting a meet record
