NCHSAA 4A State Meet Preview

Boys Sprints & Hurdles

Five events, five different favorites, five exciting races, and the last one might be the best of the day. The state's top 400 runner, Kaylan Love-Soles (Rocky River, above), will be tested in that event by Ky-Mani Dula (Southern Alamance). Then Dula will try to turn around and be competitive in one of the most wide-open 200's we've seen in years, with the top 4 seeds separated by only 0.03 seconds! Dylan Peebles (Wakefield) has the slightest of advantages over Jonathan Iyamu (Wake Forest), Dula, and Rodney Rowe (Clayton), who is also the top seed in the 100. Rowe will have to get past Tyri Beard (Wake Forest), Cedric Terry (Scotland), and Cameron Milligan (Fuquay-Varina) if he wants to continue the success he began during indoor season - and definitely do not forget about Cravont Charleston (Mallard Creek). In the hurdles, Hillside teammates Marcus Krah and McKinley Brown have the top seeds in the 110 and 300, respectively, but both have serious challengers. Emmanuel Jackson (Sanderson) is the only NC boy to have run under 14 in the 110 this season, while Brent Carroll (Philliip O. Berry) has the best time in the 300 this season among the competitors in Saturday's meet.
