NCHSAA 4A State Meet Preview

Girls Sprints & Hurdles

Nothing is ever a lock at the 4A state meet, but Ebony Williams (Parkland) is your best bet to win 2 events on the track. She is the top seed in both hurdle races, and she will have to stay ahead of Gabriele Cunningham (Mallard Creek) in the 100 and Jazmine Gooden (Dudley) in the 300. With PR's of 13.69 and 42.98, both run recently, Williams is in the driver's seat in both events. Sydnei Murphy (Apex) holds the top seed in the 100 and 200 as she pursues one of the rarest individual achievements in our sport: the quadruple win. It won't be easy: Parkland's Katlin Sherman is the defending champion in both events, and it wouldn't be too surprising if someone like Tamara Clark (High Point Central) got into the mix, especially in the 200. McKinley McNeill (Parkland) and Layla White (Cary) will stage another edition of their rivalry in the 400, with McNeill in the top spot right now by virtue of breaking through the 55-second barrier for the first time last week.
