Sometimes consistent improvement doesn't get the headlines, but it DOES lead to future success!
Cross country officially ends this weekend for all but the absolute elite nationally, and that means it's time to wrap up some loose ends. One of the remaining tasks is our recognition for the top freshman and sophomore runners from this season. We mentioned 10 potential candidates at midseason, and since then a few more strong contenders have entered the conversation. The postseason tends to sort out the strongest runners, particularly when the conditions at the state meet are difficult, and now we're in a good position to come up with a list of 7 athletes who meet the criteria of "Future Stars." We even added a few Honorable Mention nominees, for good measure! While nobody can predict the future, it's a good bet that these same boys will be the seniors that we celebrate in two or three more seasons.
