Ferris 3rd in NON 800

After last weekend, Dylan Ferris of East Forsyth was hoping for a big win at the National Outdoor meet. Last weekend he ran a US #1 time (now US #2) of 1:49.27 and it was the first time he had ever clipped 1:50 in an open 800.

Dylan took the race out and wanted to come through in "52 to 53, just like last weekend". He did just that, as he split about 53.5 for the first quarter mile.

In the 3rd 200, Cory Primm of CA began to close the gap and at 200m Primm took over. Dylan fought very hard and held on for 3rd place.

Plenty to be excited about as it was still his 2nd fastest time in an open 800 at 1:50.12. Remember, Dylan is only a junior with plenty more room for growth.

"I would have liked to been staning in the middle of the podium, but 3rd in the nation is pretty good. I still have next year."

He does have next year and the Czech Republic to look forward to this summer. Dylan will be representing the US at the IAAF World Youth Championships.
